The IT Director is responsible for leading the IT department. The Director works to ensure IT goals and strategy are consistent with business strategy, obtaining buy-off and ensuring day-to-day tasks and issues are addressed in a timely manner. This position leads the direction and implementation of applications and related systems architecture. The IT Director is accountable for the availability, security and continuity of computer systems throughout the company. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership, support and direction for information systems through collaboration, education and relationship building.  Function as an advisor to management on technology matters.
  • Ensures IT plans and priorities are based on business goals and priorities, involving business management in the prioritization and planning processes. Communicate to all levels of the company and build trust between the business and IT.
  • Develop and communicate an information systems management and governance structure to all levels of the organization. Ensure proper governance that balances requests for technologies and services with available resources, and prioritizes the projects and services to be provided.
  • Assure that the management structure supports the effective delivery of systems, provides excellent service and assures the integrity of the information resources infrastructure and applications.
  • Manages projects, including timeline, budget, risks, issues and resource engagement. Creates appropriate project structure for the priority, size and risks associated to the project.
  • Develop standards and procedures for selection, implementation, integration and support of systems.
  • Develop and implement a method of providing regular feedback on key performance indicators, including the status of projects requested and implemented.
  • Mentor, develop, and hire (as necessary) a strong information systems team that is customer service-oriented. Ensure cross training of resources and rotation of on call responsibilities.
  • Maximize staff performance and technical expertise through clearly defined objectives, training, skills development and performance evaluation.
  • Develop an annual IT plan and budget using business and IT input; obtain management buy-in and track progress against the plan and budget.
  • Develop efficient departmental operations and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Oversee all information security policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and appropriate levels of internal controls.
  • Stay abreast of the latest IT developments, advances and trends to ensure optimal professional effectiveness and competence.
  • Ensure proper vendor and consultant relationship management as well as contract administration for IT equipment and services.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment that runs an ERP System
  • 5 years in an IT Leadership (Director Level or equivalent) role
  • Successful experience leading and managing teams including mentoring and coaching
  • Solid knowledge of IT best practices
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problems solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, at all levels of the organization with a customer service mentality
  • Budgetary planning experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Must be able to work well in a fluid environment with shifting priorities
  • Experience with a growing company experiencing change
