Non-automotive manufacturer is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead the safety initiatives for their manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for all safety initiatives.  Daily responsibilities will include:
  • Partnering with operations to maintain a safe working environment
  • Establishing, maintaining and improving the site safety initiatives
  • Completing accident investigations and reporting
  • Developing, improving and documenting standard operating safety procedures
  • Performing safety audits as needed
  • Developing and performing safety training
  • Tracking and documenting company training and injury reports
  • Maintaining OSHA log and documentation
  • Completing PPE assessments
  • Updating SDS documentation and procedures as needed
  • Leading and participating in safety meetings
  • Completing risk assessments
  • Other safety responsibilities as assigned
This is a fast-paced manufacturing environment that offers the opportunity to work in an ever-changing, customer-focused environment.  This position does require candidates to enjoy floor presence, be flexible and approachable, open to new and changing concepts, organized, team oriented and able to take initiative with little direction.  Candidates must be able to communicate directly and effectively at all levels. This position requires candidates to be on the floor up to 50% of their day and willing to travel as needed.   This is a salaried position with medical, dental, vision, vacation, paid holidays, 401K and profit sharing bonus.

REQUIREMENTS for the Safety Specialist:
1. A minimum of a high school diploma and/or GED 
2. At least co-op and/or internship experience in similar role
3. Experience working in manufacturing and/or refinery environments
4. The desire to be safety focused 
5. Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel

Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. CSP certification and/or OSHA certifications
2. BWC experience
3. Environmental experience

Candidates are preferred to be local to the Marion, Ohio area. There is not a relocation package being offered at this time.
